The purpose for this Conference is (1) to bring awareness to the growing threat that right wing elements in today’s society pose to that society, (2) develop strategies that help combat those elements and (3) build a global network of antifascists to include street activists, academics, community leaders and public servants that will coordinate efforts with each other for an effective opposition to right wing mobilizing.

Agenda

The concern for a growing mobilization of extremist right wing elements globally has always been a concern, but it has been a very real threat for over two decades in Europe and as we have also seen the creeping fascism more and more apparent in the United States and Canada in particular in recent years, we have seen those elements assert themselves in ways they haven’t in generations. There has always been antifascists successfully keeping them from causing the kinds of damage to society that they hope to do, but as persons of color, Muslims, Jews, women, LGBTQ communities and others continue to be targets for hate politics and attacks both in the street and in our government and corporate boardrooms, it has become an important effort to ensure that the freedoms we should all enjoy or hope to enjoy as human beings are protected effectively. That requires education, organizing and most importantly more to join the effort.

An International Conference of Antifascist Resistance will be an opportunity from concerned people from all walks of life to meet and learn from each other. The conference will be open to the public and speakers will include those that have been involved in antifascist work and education to include efforts against police brutality, Islamophobia, the recent misogynist campaigns such as Men’s Rights Activism and the so-called “incel” movement, attacks on LGBTQ+ communities, and assaults on the poor. We also want to put a spotlight on how corporate interests have played a part in these activities. Fred Hampton once said, Racism is a by-product of capitalism,” and that has not been more evident than the oligarchs that have traversed the globe trying to prove him right. Organizations will be invited to participate and network. There will also if possible be a livestream of the event so those that could not attend in person will still be able to participate.

Location

The conference will be determined, but current plans are to hold it in New Jersey.

Date and Duration

The date of the conference is to be determined but we expect to hold in June. It will take place over the course of two days.

Promotion & Media

We will promote the event via the internet, particularly social networks, on the ground promotions such as posters and the like and media outlets. There should be a team established to specifically deal with media inquiries.

Funding

To offset costs, we will appeal for sponsors and donations to assist with those efforts. These donations can be tax deductible via One People’s Project, one of the sponsors of the Conference. Such donations can be made via the OPP donation page. Registration fees may be used as well for this purpose.

Security

As this is a conference that will generate some notice from those we are specifically focusing on, given their history of violence we will have a security team that will be on hand to prevent any issues that may arise.

Child Care

As some participants may bring their family to the conference a team to help with child care should be created.
